SAMSUNG MEMORY CARD VIRAL

Back in September I was asked by The Viral Factory to meet a team at a studio in West London where I would be called upon to do some drawing... Nothing could have prepared me for the day ahead!

I worked on this ad with The Viral Facotry as production designer, creating concept artwork to help visualize the way the video would look and feel. I produced a drawing for each stage of the memory card 'test' and I can vouch for the fact that they did in fact build it all, everything you see in the video is real, including the flame throwers.

It was a great experience watching the set come together and when necessary ducking my head to avoid projectiles as various bits of kit were being tested around me. Hats off to the whole team at The Viral Facotry for another great piece of work and especially Will Tribble for the directing duties.

'LOSING IT' BOOK TRAILER

'Losing It' is a new teen read published by Andersen Press featuring eight short stories focused around the issue of losing your virginity by eight of the best authors in teen literature today. Authors include Keith Gray, Melvin Burgess, Anne Fine, Mary Hooper, Sophie McKenzie, Patrick Ness, Jenny Valentine and Bali Rai.

The trailer that I directed and animated was shown at the book launch at Foyles in London and has also done a tour of various literature festivals around the country. The book itself has been getting great reviews from blogging sites all the way to national newspapers such as the Independent.

An alternative version of the trailer can also be seen along side the book on Amazon here.

IDEAL SERIES 6

The new series of Ideal starring Johnny Vegas starts August the 17th on BBC Three so check it out if you can, it promises to be brilliant. I had some involvement with one of the episodes but I can't say too much because it is all top secret. The only way to find out is to watch it all and then come back and ask me which bit I'm talking about!

ROBOT AT THE ICA

As part of the Rushes 2010 season the ICA have held a retrospective event in honour of Straight 8 films. From 10 years worth of shorts filmed on one cartridge of Super 8 and with no editing my 2008 film Robot made the selection which is a great honour.

I'll always remember seeing my completed film for the first time whilst sat in the Kodak Apartment at the Cannes Film Festival (one of the quirks of a Straight 8 film is that even as the film maker you don't get to see the finished film until it's first screening.) and although I was very proud I had no idea just how long this little film would keep going!

It has now been shown all over the world at various film festivals and even in it's third year it continues to do me proud.

BABY COW PROJECT

I've recently finished a project with Baby Cow Productions for BBC3. I can't say much but it's very exciting and was a lot of fun to work on. It will hopefully be broadcast sometime later this summer so keep checking back for more information and I'll let you know more as soon as I can!

BBC BITESIZE ENGLISH LITERATURE

In a slight break from the norm I was asked to come in to Brighton based digital agency Kanoti to help out with some graphic design.

As part of the work they were doing for BBC Bitesize, Kanoti were commissioned to create book covers for all the themes and characters for every piece of literature in the GCSE English Literature curriculum.

Here's a few examples of the pieces I worked on from the Drama 'An Inspector Calls':

LOTTELO VIRALS

A short while ago I was commissioned by The Viral Factory to create a series of animations to promote a new Lottery launching in Austria called Lottelo. Entrants play the game by entering their mobile number but they cannot enter themselves... The idea is to create an imaginative mini advert that features your mobile number and appeals to other people to enter you into the draw.

I created 3 pieces, screenshots of which can be seen below:

ENCHANTED PALACE

Enchanted Palace is an online adventure game for Key Stage 2 children. It was designed and created by talented folks at Brighton based digital agency Kanoti to complement the exciting new visitor experience of the same name now showing at Kensington Palace.

I was fortunate enough to have worked on the project providing my animation services on a number of the characters featured in the game, keep an eye out in particular for a rather spoilt Young William, Duke of Gloucester.

The game also features one of the finest insults I've ever heard on a children's adventure game, next time you're stuck for the right words just remember "You sluggish clotpole!" I'd like to see anyone come back from that!

SKINS HOUSE TV AD

To celebrate the return of Skins on E4 I was commissioned to create a tv ad about a series of exclusive Skins House parties being held in Bristol.

You can see the add below:

It was a fantastic project to be involved with and a lot of fun to make. Highlights include the day spent at Envy in london doing post production. What a place, felt like I was king for a day!
